ECUADOR'S
FAMOUS
PEOPLE

Atahualpa

Atahualpa is the son of Huayana Capac, and an Ecuadorian Princess. When the old Inca Chief died in 1527, the empire was divided between Atahualpa, on the north, and Huáscar, in the south. He was known as brave and popular with the army. When Europe arrived, the Inca, fell towards the power of them. As Atahualpa said no to becoming a christian, he was executed, marking the end of the Inca civilization.

Charles Darwin is primarily known as the architect of the theory of evolution by natural selection. Charles Robert Darwin was born in Shropshire, England, on February 12, 1809. Darwin left England a barely credentialed, if promising, twenty-two-year-old student of zoology, botany, and geology. On this trip that Darwin made his famed visit to the islands of the Galapagos. It is certain that the classic presentation of the Galapagos trip as a sort of “eureka moment” for Darwin, in which he both originated and became convinced of the theory of natural selection in a single stroke by analyzing the beaks of the various species of finch found across several of the islands, is incorrect. Darwin died in April 1882, and is buried in Westminster Abbey, next to John Herschel and just across from Isaac Newton.
